There is so much about apartheid and the struggle that I don't know. Before watching the video, I had no idea who Ruth First was. Ruth First's life and death are a vital part of the history of apartheid. The way she fought for black people and the way she was killed shocked me a lot. The gruesome violence and hatred was not just directed at blacks, but at all whites who supported blacks. While the video focused primarily on his life, I would like to learn more about other black South African leaders who fought against apartheid. Many black people lost their lives in this battle and were not remembered in the history books and videos we watched. I hope to interact with individuals in real communities and learn more about their leaders and the individuals who fought on a more micro level
