Free Persuasive Essays - Cloning and Family Values As an individual and human being, we are raised with family values. We are taught the value of marriage, parenting, and respect. Cloning will lead to the disappearance of these values. With today's technology and cultural diversity in America these values are rapidly diminishing. “Changes in the broader culture now make it much more difficult to express a common and respectful understanding of sexuality, procreation, nascent life, family, the meaning of motherhood, fatherhood, and the bonds between generations” (Kass and Wilson 7 ). Cloning advocates believe that parents who want to clone a child, whether to make a transplant for a dying child or to replace that of a lost one, should have this right. They do not know that the sacrificial benefit to the creator is by far cruelty and evil. This is a violation of the sanctity of individual life. We, as human beings, have the ability to reason. Why don't we see the disease that we could unleash and that we are unable to control? Infertile individuals may view cloning as a recipe for their suffering. And the unborn child, does anyone take that into consideration? Even with a life-threatening disease, can we, as human cloning, justify the moral implications? Harvesting human beings for their organs, solely for personal gain is inhumane. Should we believe that it is okay to give birth to a baby just for its organs? What will be the effect on that cloned child? The devastation of his psychological state would be harmful. As far as he knows, he is a child who was brought into this world simply used as a commodity like livestock. Will society treat the cloned child with the same respect as the original? It's a response we can't justify. But we will soon find out whether human cloning can continue.
