Businessdictionary.com defines an expert as “A professional who has acquired knowledge and skill through study and practice over years, in a particular field or subject, to the extent whose opinion can in fact be useful in identifying, solving a problem or understanding a situation". Throughout history many have earned the title of expert through the study and practice of their specific fields, but few have earned the title of expert in the field of politics. Someone in the field of politics must have a combination of unique traits to be considered an expert. One of the most critical traits is that they must have years of experience in politics. This is because years of experience is really the only way to know the complicated ways of politics. Another characteristic necessary to be defined as an expert is the results obtained in politics. A man who has brokered four treaties in his five years in office as a senator is considered much more knowledgeable about politics than a man who has been in office for twenty years and done absolutely nothing. Another characteristic is knowledge. This knowledge can be gained through the study of politics throughout history. If someone has all these characteristics then he will definitely be a political expert. Winston Churchill is a man who has all these characteristics, thus making him an expert in politics. Winston Churchill's long and decorated record in politics is one rivaled by few in all of history. His arduous 39-year political career began with a defeat in parliament, when he ran for a position in July 1899. The following year he ran again and this time was elected with a majority in parliament, and this became the beginning of his long political career.
