(An analysis of how the authors Hughes, Clifton and McElroy and how they use story in their works.) Every person wakes up and has this experience in which they remember the past. They remember the day before or something that happened to them. In their mind it is their story and it manifests itself in their daily actions. Our history shapes us in different ways. If we grew up with an abusive parent, our actions might reflect on our experiences. Lives are a blend of moments that have shaped us into who we are. Society is the same way. We evolved to fit the time period. At one point we relied completely on the land, and the only covering was a piece of animal skin. We hunted and grew all the food we ate. Over the years we have found different ways to make clothes and our food is not always hunted or gathered directly by the people who eat it. Society has evolved. And yes, at one point there was such a thing as slaves. We like to think that the United States is a wonderful country and has done nothing wrong. America is wonderful, but we need to remember what we did wrong, so we can prevent it from happening again. Slavery became an important part of the history of the United States and is revealed when we take a look at the found poetry of that time period. Hughes, Clifton, and McElroy all used their history and heritage in their poems through three different ways: stepping out of oppression, the working class, and the mere history of the people. Hughes discussed the social issues that occurred when slaves stopped being oppressed. After the civil war there were many grievances. Whites had to deal with not owning the people who worked for them, and African Americans had to figure out what they needed. However the real people... are at the center of the card... where they come from, but all people deal with the situation differently. Everyone wants to remember the past, but some are focused on the future. People's ambitions can move a society forward, and they want to prove to themselves that they can stand up to white people. Some focus on society and the foundations of society. Workers are what build society and for this reason the world cannot live without African Americans or the working class. Finally, we must look at our history. People need to remember the past and what we have been through. The past can protect us from making future mistakes and from remembering everything that happened to our ancestors. People love their heritage. It's not a question of trials. Trials are painful, but it's remembering that people have done hard things and that we can do hard things too. It's up to us to decide what we need to do and never give up.
