Topic > Why I Want to Join the Marine Corps - 1491

We all know that this world has had many wars, whether with another country or a civil war. We know that since the beginning of time we have always fought to survive to protect our lands. The United States broke away from the Crown during the Revolutionary War, conquered the southern states of Mexico, recovered from a brutal civil war, and saved the world from collapse through two world wars. The United States has also had a hard time with the war, but the men and women who go to fight for us are all brave souls. The first to enter battle, from the Revolutionary War to today, were the Marines. You have heard of the saying “Semper Fidelis”. Well, that stands for “always faithful”, another unofficial motto is “first to fight”. The Marine Corps motto has been “Semper Fi” for nearly three hundred years. They never back down and never give up. The Marines will stare death in the face and not back down. They will go into battle with their brothers and sisters knowing that someone has their back as they have someone else's. This sounds like the lifestyle I would like to live. This career is something that piques my interest. I always grew up with firearms, learned gun safety, and enjoy being part of a team, from football, basketball, baseball, etc. I have learned that a team or family is the key to success. Don't worry about what someone else is doing, just trust that they will do their job and whatever you need to do yours. Yes, you should help them if they are in trouble, because that's what a family does. Someone always protects you. The reason I chose this career is because Marines are elite soldiers and are the best at what they do. They hear the call to service and are there in their battle dress, ready to stand and fight. They improve... middle of paper... many years of service and combat experience. They both served in Afghanistan and Iran and taught me many facts about the military. I have concluded that being a Marine or in any branch of the military requires a lot of hard work, dedication, respect, desire, courage and a sense of standing up for others. There are many requirements to become a Marine, but they are understandable and easy to meet if you want to become a Marine. This is a great way to go and is a great way to have a job right out of high school. I plan to achieve these goals by completing high school, achieving a high Asvab score, and staying in good physical shape. I will put all my effort into completing my work so that I can stand side by side with my brothers and sisters in the US Marines, ready to defend the United States and those within the nation. Hoo Rah.
