Washing machines have become the most popular mechanical device in all modern times. “For thousands of years, one of the most laborious household tasks has been washing clothes and cords” (Field Enterprises Educational Corporation 45 ). Washing machines are very necessary in everyday life. A lot of work and it was alleviated thanks to the wonderful invention of the washing machine. The washing machine is also a great time saver. Washing machines have developed successfully over the years and continue to develop day by day. From the washboard to the electric washing machine, laundry has truly been transformed in America, as a result, cleaning your laundry is almost effortless. Long ago, washing clothes was done through the process of rubbing sand on clothes or breaking the article of clothing with hard rocks. Also, soaking clothing in water to remove excess dirt. Another way to clean clothes long ago was that boats would carry clothes in bags and drag the bags through the water to clean the clothes or whatever else was in the bag. Many tried to think of simpler ways to wash clothes, but there was no controversial principle for cleaning clothes. Because the basic principle was the use of water to remove dirt. Some of the first washing machines were manually operated and were washboards. Then, in 1858, mechanical washing machines were introduced. This was a big step, because soon people around the world would try to continue improving this wonderful invention. Shortly thereafter, Alva Fisher is said to have made the world's first electric washing machine around 1907. "It was not until the modern washing machine was invented that women were freed from this drudgery" ( Field Enterprises Educational Corporation 45 ).
