Jim Crow was a man who created laws that affected the lives of many people during the 1960s. These laws made things much more difficult for blacks, especially in the South, but then they began to grow in the United States. There were many purposes that went into creating these laws. During this era, blacks were excluded from many things and opportunities. These laws brought about many changes and changed the way things were after these laws were abolished. Jim Crow laws affected, harmed, excluded, and ruined the lives of many blacks and in some cases whites. There were many purposes in creating these laws. The originator of Jim Crow laws was a “racial caste system that operated primarily, but not exclusively in the Southern and Border states,” around the mid-1960s. (Pilgram n. pag.) These laws made life harder, many people thought “they were more than a series of strict anti-black laws. It was a way of life.” (Pilgram n. pag.) These laws were created to separate the two black and white races. These were some of the laws that everyone had to take into account and follow: “whites were better than blacks, smarter than blacks, and should behave”. (Pilgram no. pag.) All sexual relations that whites or blacks shared would be penalized. (Pilgram n. pag.) If we treated blacks with some equality, they would be encouraged to do things with whites that they shouldn't do. (Pellegram n. pag.) If something happens, there must be violence that keeps blacks down and makes sure they don't rise above whites. (Pilgram n. pag.) Furthermore, discrimination can play a role in these laws and impact the lives of many people. According to the list of laws made by Jim Crow had many effects on people's lives. People have been affected by these laws and don't want something like this to ever happen again. there were many purposes for creating them, they influenced others in many ways, discrimination played a major role in the 1960s and lynching became a major part of influencing the lives of those who chose not to follow them.
