Optimistic, pessimistic and emotional thinking styles In critical thinking, one of the most important aspects to recognize is the influence of human factors in the way thought processing occurs. Factors such as enculturation, emotions, stress, ego and prejudices all play a fundamental role in the way humans think. Critical thinking requires a person to identify possible factors involved in information gathering and decision making to better understand how these factors might alter or influence the critical thinking process and outcomes. These three styles of optimistic, pessimistic and emotional thinking involve different aspects that must be recognized by individuals to gather information, analyze it and make a solid decision. The optimist cannot see the bad in everything and everyone, the pessimist cannot see the good and the emotionalist sees neither. All three of these thinking styles are similar in that each is, to some extent, based on the individual's personal feelings. Every decision we make in life will affect our future; the smallest factors in our personality can have extremely large consequences if individuals do not adequately analyze input for critical thinking. Optimistic, Pessimistic, and Emotional Thinking Styles In critical thinking, one of the most important aspects to recognize is the influence of human factors in the way we think processing occurs. Factors such as enculturation, emotions, stress, ego and prejudices all play a fundamental role in the way humans think. Critical thinking requires a person to identify possible factors involved in information gathering and decision making to better understand how these factors might alter or influence the critical thinking process and outcomes. These factors have been studied and placed into different categories called Thinking Styles. Each style shows different positive and negative results resulting from the critical thinking process. Three of these thinking styles are optimistic, pessimistic, and emotional, each consisting of different ways of analyzing everyday situations. An optimistic person will generally find the good in all things that happen to him. They are the first to say that everything will work out in the end. They believe that they can find the good in most people and that everyone has good in them. In reality, most people are optimistic to some extent. Optimistic people like to think that no matter what happens, our problems will be solved. Being optimistic makes it difficult to make clear decisions because this person sees only the good and never the bad.
