Topic > The Integration of English Around the World

The English language is the most dominant language in business, education, and influence today. With this in mind, doesn't it make sense that people who fully understand English are sought after in business and services today? Even in little Norway, English is fully integrated into the average person's education, daily life and business. Norwegian employers therefore need employees who can speak and use English as a communication tool. As the desire for greater understanding of English increases, it is natural that there is a change in the role that English plays in our lives. But is English really that useful? English is everywhere around you. Even though you may not live in a country where English is the primary language, you still see, hear, and read your daily dose of English in various ways. English is used in movies and other entertainment, social media and the Internet are in English, and you see English in the media and at school. Since these few examples taken from a sea of English uses form an important part of some people's lives, one would expect there to be a fair amount of general understanding of English. However, is this always the case? Apparently, most people can speak English quite well once they reach upper secondary school and improve thereafter, but there are still few non-native speakers who have absolute mastery of the language, or in technical terms, a C2 level of understanding . This means that while the average person can make themselves understood, they can't always describe, discuss, or think about a topic with more than a few simple sentences that come to mind, all of which fit into your overall understanding. .....middle sheet......should say it well. However, not all of us are capable of going the extra mile. While the vast majority speak decent English, few can speak it at the level of a native speaker. I think this is simply because there is a lack of time and not enough time is spent on English for everyone to master the language. To improve your English, you need to be interested in and be willing to work with others in the language. However, it's probably good news for most people that a lot of the work involved comes naturally, simply by trying to orient your life more around English. You can use services in English, use the Internet much more and speak English with your friends, near and far. I think we should all take this extra step to improve English, because after all; why would you ever settle for being good, when you can be great?
