Tyco CorporationIntroductionThroughout this article we will address several liability issues facing Tyco Corporation. Some of these problems are ones they have faced recently. The responsibilities that will be discussed involve the legal, social and ethical issues that arise in a nationally known company. LegalTyco provides products and services worldwide. The company is global and diversified, providing a variety of products including electronic, healthcare, fire and security services, as well as engineered products and services. While it employs more than 250,000 people worldwide, it brought in approximately $40 billion in revenue in 2005. In 2002 Tyco was involved in the corporate scandal in which management misappropriated company funds. Previous CEO Dennis Kozlowski was convicted in 2005 on 22 of the 23 counts he was accused of. This is an example of not only a legal issue of liability but also an ethical issue that Tyco Corporation had to address. Faced with the legal and ethical problems this incident had placed the company in, Tyco named Ed Breen president and CEO. Mr. Breen joined the company in 2002 after the scandal and immediately began rebuilding the company's name. With the appointment of Ed Breen and the change in the company's ethical standards (which we will discuss in the next part of the document) he promotes the legal responsibilities of not only the company's employees, but also the responsibilities of suppliers and buyers to report any incorrect behavior. . This reporting also speaks to the ethics of the employees of Tyco Corporation as well as those of companies dealing with the paper or social responsibility owed to the community by a company. They fired the CEO responsible for the company's collapse, who is now serving a prison sentence for his wrongdoings, and hired Ed Breen who is working diligently to change the public's view of the company. Mr. Breen understands that global corporations must commit to doing good for the community, otherwise they will suffer the consequences of disappointing the public and possibly losing business for failing. Under his leadership, Tyco continues to make strides in regaining the public's trust and growing the company into a socially conscious, nationally recognized name. com/articles/2006/128.htmlhttp://www.tyco.com/TycoWeb/WWW/Documents/pdf/SuppSocRespBrochure_ENGLISH_07.pdf
