Has there ever been a day when your home was taken away from you? Life as a Jewish refugee in the Middle East was definitely a difficult thing during and after World War II because there was so much fighting between the nations. The Jewish people only wanted a homeland so they could be free from persecution. The Arab people already living in the existing State of Palestine were extremely disturbed by the attempt to form the Jewish State of Israel; other countries that were not interested in the countries assisting the Jewish people used the Arabs' anger and resentment to their advantage. The Jews needed a homeland free from persecution because after the Holocaust none of the countries surrounding Germany wanted to welcome the Jewish people; this left them with nowhere to go. The creation of the State of Israel was a bad decision because it angered the Arab inhabitants already living in the State of Palestine; the Jewish people should instead have been able to emigrate to other countries. The United ArabsRussia posed an enormous threat to the Allies and also to the Jewish prospect of a free homeland. Russia constantly sought to convert neighboring Arab nations into satellite nations for Russia's advantage against the Allies (Lewis). They did this to try to get rid of the Jews in the area. Arabs in the Middle East at the time looked at Russia with amazement and jealousy. (Lewis). The Arabs felt that their only hope of liberating the Jews from the area and preventing them from attempting to form Israel was to join superpower Russia.
