Topic > The Physics of Music - 876

Physical science is the study of non-living matter which I will talk about the physics of music and how pitch and frequency play a role together in science. Physics is known to be the most fundamental science, based on principles and concepts. It deals with matter, motion, force and energy (Shipman-Wilson Higgins, 2013). In this report I will deal with pitch, frequency of sound and waves which are also related to physical science and how they are related. Sound is (a) the physical transmission of a disturbance (energy) in a standard and the general physiological response to pressure waves in the air. However, the sound spectrum has much lower frequencies and is much simpler, with only three frequency regions; the infrasonic region (f<20Hz), the audible region (20Hz20 KHz), (Shipman-Wilson-Higgins, 2013). Depending on the volume, the sound can be determined as low or high frequencies. Sound is a type of longitudinal wave that originates from the vibration of a medium (such as a person's vocal cords or a guitar string) and travels through gases, liquids, and elastic solids as changes in pressure and density. The intensity of a sound perceived by the ear depends on the amplitude of the sound wave and is measured in decibels, while its height depends on the frequency measured in hertz, (Shipman-Wilson-Higgins, 2013). We hear sound because circulating conflicts cause the eardrum to vibrate and the sensations are transferred to the auditory nerve through the fluid and bones of the ear. For example, volume is a relative term. A sound diminishes the source. As sound travels outward, it “spreads” over a larger area. The minimum intensity of sound that can be detected by the human ear...... middle of paper ...... memorize any musical note. There is a certain scale used to determine the sound with the perfect pitch. The musical scale is composed of tones and mainly repeating scales and octaves. For example, C major is CDEFGAB[C] representing musical scales, with the parenthesis indicating that the last note is an octave higher than the first C you started with. A single staircase can be revealed at many different height levels. What are the rules of music, from playing an instrument to singing a song; these are the fundamental building blocks of sound in music. Intonation can be broken differently depending on who is listening. Everyone will hear something but everyone will determine their own sound. This is really surprising to me. Being a musician, singing or playing an instrument can help your ear hear the same thing but you will always have a different interruption.
