Topic > The Evolution of Cloud Computing - 1723

IntroductionFirst, when computers or PCs were introduced, they literally took up the space of the entire room. They were heavy and bulky, but still had a lot of limitations in terms of what those PCs can actually do or perform everyday human tasks. As PCs have evolved, so have new software. Software that meets the needs of sending data securely over the Internet is called cloud computing. With PCs, cloud computing has evolved to another level by making it easier and simpler to use and providing others with secure information. One problem facing the cloud computing organization is the concern of keeping files secure. Security reasons are the main concern with cloud computing since everything is on the Internet. On the other hand, cloud computing is transforming problem solving. For example, thirty years ago PCs were introduced and changed the way people worked. Today we are witnessing a new revolution with the convergence of the cloud and the billions of mobile devices in use today (Baxter, 2014). Today, the cloud gives people access to massive amounts of computing power and data that enable government, designers, and many others to solve problems in a completely new way. The capacity, collaboration, efficiency and data insights enabled by the cloud are driving this new emerging technology faster than ever. “ With cloud computing, governments gain these benefits to ensure data security. With the recent paradigm shift in IT, from physical data centers to virtualized data centers in the cloud, government agencies can benefit from on-demand provisioning of applications, platforms, software, data and other services while controlling resources, costs and meeting ever-changing demands" (Iyoob and Rao). ... middle of paper ... that the documents they keep must meet deadlines, be accessible and above all they must be organized. Cloud computing allows an independent perspective on location, how people collaborate, work and communicate. It also allows providers to use cloud computing data centers. Cloud computing will transform IT in the corporate world and government computing in the cloud era it is stated that “government agencies hope to take advantage of the cost savings, scalability and collaboration offered by cloud computing” (Berg, 2011). White House officials want the government to start using cloud computing as it ensures a secure future. Adapting this new technology for a small town's administration will provide them with secure servers, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
