Topic > Causes of Poverty in South Africa - 858

Poverty levels in South Africa are high. This means that in some sectors of society there is very little money to spend on goods and services, which is why poverty is a condition in which one has little or no money or goods. Poverty leads to many problems such as crime and lack of education and skills. Poverty can have numerous effects on South African businesses and, most importantly, education. Education is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills and habits of one group of people are used to teach another generation. Any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts can be considered educational. Education is divided into stages such as: • Kindergarten • Primary school • Secondary school • College • University Lack of education and skills also have a huge impact on poverty. Because the middle-aged segment of our population lacks education and skills, if people do not have adequate education they will not find jobs that give them the means to a better life. This affects the children of previously disadvantaged individuals because they have no money to provide an education for their children. Overview of the current state of poverty in South Africa The number of people living in poverty in South Africa did not change between 1996 and 2001. Families living in poverty have fallen deeper into poverty and the gap between rich and poor has expanded. In 2001, approximately 57% of individuals in South Africa lived below the poverty income line. Ways to address and/or adapt challenges: Microenvironment Schools allocate resources to different sections of schools, these resources are allocated to help educate children if children do not attend classes or come to school due to malnutrition and health don't concentrate. These resources will be wasted. Market Environment: Government should sensitize schools to underprivileged children and everyone should get education because everyone has right to proper education. Macro environment: The family member who has lost his job can apply for a monthly grant, which is the small sum of money that people in difficulty receive to survive. Their children should attend school and at least have a job in the afternoon
