How are peer pressure and support associated with academic achievement?2. How does peer support affect academic performance? Cho, Y., & Chung, O. (2012). Researchers have studied the relationship between conformative peer bullying and found that peer pressure and peer resistance are linked to antisocial conformity. Conformative peer bullying is defined as “behaviors that support and reinforce bullying and do not include initiating proactive actions,” (Cho, 2012. p. 521). Peer pressure “influences a person to change his or her attitudes, values, behaviors, and relationships in order to conform to peer group norms,” (Cho, 2012. p.521). Peer conformity is “the inclination to adopt behavioral models considered acceptable by the peer group”, (Cho, 2012. p.521) and the Participant Role Scale (PRS) to measure the variable “conformity” and “peer pressure”, (Cho, 2012. p. 523 - 524 participants were 391 second year students from 21 different classes in Seoul, South Korea,). of which 285 were boys and 106 girls, aged between 13 and 14. Informed consent was obtained from teachers and students between July 14 and 18, 2008 distributed the “four-point Likert scale” survey questionnaires to 673 students in 21 classes at three middle schools. Students were given 20 to 25 minutes to answer the questionnaires. At the end of the analysis it was found that there was a positive correlation between peer pressure, peer conformity and peer confirmatory bullying. The effect of bullying is strongly influenced by the personal characteristics of the bully. He also indicated that without the influence of the group an individual may not resort to bullying or simply peer pressure pushes people to act differently to please others and show their support or abilities to be part of the group. In conclusion, antisocial peer conformity is one of the causes that influences bullying in peer conformity. It has also been shown that those who cannot resist are more influenced by bullying than those who can resist.
