SMS affects writing. This Christmas Eve will be one that Jane will remember forever, because her father David has finally decided to buy her a cell phone. It was his 13th birthday last month and he begged his father for a cell phone. Jane always imagined texting on her phone and laughing at her friends' responses to her text. His father believes he deserves it. She's been at the top of her class and helps out a lot around the house, but with all the debate about the negative effects of texting, is David giving his daughter a weapon that will destroy her ability to write effectively and therefore affect her grade? at school? According to Michaela Cullington's article, “Does texting have an impact? It means that it's okay for every generation of young people to have this problem; absolutely not, but it gives us room to search for a cause and also to be able to carry out various studies just as some experts in our text have done, to determine whether our suspicion about the cause is right or wrong? While some teachers may believe that texting negatively affects formal writing, my question is this; Where is your body of evidence? Where are the studies conducted to prove that texting is truly responsible for a problem that has existed for centuries? Based on the results of longitudinal studies carried out due to this controversy; which has proven that texting has no negative effects on formal writing and from my personal experience with texting, I will encourage David to go ahead and buy his daughter Jane a phone. My position on the topic of our text “Text Messages Affect Writing” is; NO! SMS does not affect writing. This is simply speculation and complete nonsense. While this article may not curb this wrong tendency to believe in some teachers; who believe that there is a negative effect of texting in writing, rather asks every reader of this essay to educate themselves and not rush with the
