Topic > One Million Dollars - 745

A couple named Rick and Sarah live in a small lodge in the woods of Alabama. They are the typical family with a son, Troy, and a daughter, Melissa. They all live together and everyone works except Melissa who is fourteen. It was a typical Alabama day. The wind whistles through the trees, the birds chirp, the insects buzz. Melissa talks to her mother about how Jenifer is a man stealer and good for nothing in the kitchen while they both prepare dinner. A van pulls up in the driveway, surprising Rick. The men jump out of the car and bang on his door. Rick motions for everyone to hide and opens the door. “Congratulations, you won a million dollars!” The game show host announces to Rick, "What?" Rick says confused. “Why did we win a million dollars?” “We won a million dollars!” - Melissa shouted. “Who cares why, thank you sir.” Rick slaps Melissa's hand away from the check. "Go back and get your mother." Rick said. "Do you know anything about it, dear?" "Yes, I'll explain later, thank you very much gentlemen." Sarah said as she took the check and closed the door. "What did you do?" Rick said. “I went to the library and entered all the pop tart codes we had.” "Oh okay, why didn't you tell me we won?" "Surprise." Sarah laughed. The next morning Rick took everyone to the bank. Waiting in line made it difficult to contain the Galbrith family's joy. "You come". Rick murmured. “Calm down, darling.” Sarah grabs and holds Rick's arm. "After you!" The teller said, “I'd like to cash a check,” Rick said. He hands her the check with so much enthusiasm, takes his hand as he holds up the... middle of paper......n of ambulances roaring down the street, turning into the dirt driveway. Three men jumped out of the back seat and two got off the stretcher. "Follow me!" Troy said running. The third chased him, ducking and jumping over bushes and branches. "Here!" Troy developed a pride within himself that he had surpassed a trained paramedic and could have saved his father's life. The two with the stretcher weren't far away and the man with Troy rushed over to Rick to check his pulse. “Sorry sir, nothing.” Tears welled up in Troy's eyes. “I should have waited! This is my fault. Troy said. “I could have done something.” “Do you have a mom or guardian we can talk to?” “Yes, Mommy will be devastated.” Troy said walking back slowly. Hesitating with every step as tears flood his eyes. "Come on son, we have to go back." The paramedic urged him on. “I can't see! Go ahead without me. ”
