ABSTRACT:The evolution of information technology has acted as a push to revive the business. Many organizations have invested a lot of money to build IT infrastructure, and the analysis also indicates an increase in the percentage of the amount that companies are investing in IT. IT acts as a bridge between companies and customer companies and also brings together all branches of an organization. The way IT is viewed has changed over time, previous leaders of an organization believed that computers, typewriters etc. were intended for lower level staff; but the trend has changed completely, an organization's managers emphasize the importance of using information technology to gain an advantage over the competition and support the idea of digitizing business models. Many companies have started hiring Chief Information Officers and some of them rely on strategic consulting firms. IT is seen as a resource that has the potential to influence the economy. But investing heavily in IT could prove disastrous. There should be a clear strategy and management must ensure that the implemented infrastructure matches the requirements. In the current scenario, technologies such as data storage, data processing and data transport are available to all and as a result this technology is seen more as a basic factor than an essential resource for planning strategies. This trend started due to the abundant availability of technology at moderate prices. While looking at the potential of information technology, companies have overlooked the fact that; the potential value of any technology remains until it offers an advantage over rivals by bringing about a change in the organization and helping the organization do something that others... middle of paper... have failed to achieve that l heuristics of opinion cannot become the basis of manifestation. In assessing the importance of technology he relied on statistics rather than considering the skills of the skilled workers using the technology. If we take his more philosophical and social view, this will not hinder the progress of the company unlike technical progress. He states that system information was neglected while companies were investing huge amounts in infrastructure and telecommunications, but the change in skills and methods is an ongoing process for centuries and does not happen without any dent, this view does not was discussed in the article which may come as a surprise to some readers of the article.
