I feel completely helpless. I see others suffering around me and I can't do anything about it. I always ask myself, “What is my purpose in this world?” I know what I have to do to find out. To overcome my sense of helplessness, I plan to attend Ohio State University for pharmacy. My course of study in which I intend to specialize is pharmacy. I plan to enroll in courses for this major at Ohio State University. Next I plan to become a pharmacist. The first steps in this process that I need to take are to research and educate myself about the program and the campus. PHARMACY In order to become a pharmacist, I need to know how to do specific things. Pharmacists need to know how to carry out administrative tasks. These duties would include completing insurance forms, maintaining patient records and inventory, complying with legal requirements for distribution procedures, monitoring the safety of controlled substances and disposing of hazardous waste, as well as hiring and supervising employees and interns (pharmacists, Overview). Other specific job duties of pharmacists include reviewing the accuracy of prescriptions and communicating with their patients, such as advising them on dosage, side effects and drug interactions and answering any questions the patient may have. Many of these tasks include preparing sterile equipment, maintaining proper procedures, preparing medications, ordering medications, and many others (pharmacists, task list). Post-secondary education is required to become a pharmacist. According to the free dictionary, the definition of post-secondary is: "Education beyond the secondary level, especially college-level education" (Post-secondary). This doesn't necessarily refer to... middle of the paper... eed. Embarking on this career path will help me do that. When I am able to help others, I don't feel helpless.
