Topic > Pursuing a Career in Internal Medicine: A Personal Journey

While doing my rotations in New York, it was exhilarating to see firsthand the interdependence between research, modern/advanced medicine, and infrastructure. I have seen firsthand the difference these advances have made in patient care and related medical outcomes. On the other hand I was also heartbroken because I realized from case to case what difference the facilities I was exposed to in New York could have made in the lives of my people in Nigeria, considering the high mortality rate I have assisted in Nigeria. I decided in my heart to seek the opportunity to train in the United States with the hope that one day I would be able to replicate, as much as possible, the quality of care I saw in the United States for patients in my country.
