According to the “Introduction to Sociology” in 1848 Marx and Friedrich Engels created the “Communist Manifesto”. This piece of literature is important as it is one of the most influential political manuscripts in history. The “Communist Manifesto” also disagreed with Comote's theory of society, thus creating the concept of anti-positivism. Marx believed that the growth of society resulted from the difficulties of other social classes over the means of production. At the time Marx was developing his theory, he was politically influenced, the industrial revolution and the rise of capitalism were growing in the nations. Both created a class gap in terms of wealth, the workers were lower class and poor, while the owners were upper class and very rich. Marx predicted that capitalism would cause inequality with his theory of anti-positivism, Marx's prediction was that capitalism's inequalities would be so severe that workers would eventually rebel. (Open Stax 1.2) The failure of capitalism led to the creation of communism, a communism focused on unsettled private or corporate ownership rather than the distribution of wealth to all. Marx's view that communism was better suited to government than capitalism may have been influenced by his study of social patterns with psychological causes. Although Marx's prediction was not entirely accurate, Marx's concept that social disputes lead to change in society is still one of the main theories that sociology continues to support in this regard.
