When I reflect on myself in this course, I really think about how it opens the mind and the inner self. Who would have thought that a course in such a short period of time could make you really think about life and the decisions and choices we make on a daily basis, or the idea of something as simple as why we are the way we are? This course makes you change your perspective on how you see others but above all on how you see yourself. It's almost like an unexpected journey to find yourself. Conley (2013) writes: “The sociological imagination allows us to see the veneer of social life for what it is, to break out of the “trap” of rapid historical change to understand what is happening in our world and the social foundations that could move right under our feet.” (page 5). What does it mean? Maybe we get so caught up in our lives that we forget to take a deep breath, step back, and take a look at what's going on around us.
