My Childhood Memories I remember it like it was yesterday. We all waited patiently for my father to come home from the rink. He promised my sister and me that if he won, he would take us all to Rye Playland. Minutes felt like hours. It was the longest hour of my life. Then we finally heard the car door close. My sister and I ran to the front door anxiously awaiting the news. He opened the door and entered. We tried to read the expression on his face but he was obviously looking down as he took off his sneakers. The suspense was killing us. Then he looked up. No words were said between us and our father. He just gave us a blank look. I didn't know what to think. I was afraid to ask because I was so worried about the answer. That's when he said to us, "Well guys, pick out what you're going to wear to the playground in Rye this weekend." Excitement coursed through my entire body. We both ran up to him and gave him the biggest hug and ran upstairs to choose what we would take with us. I was so excited for the next two days that I probably only slept about 4 hours.
