This legislature will result in a general Congress (Congress of the Union), made up of the House of Senators (direct representatives of the citizens of the States) and the House of Representatives. In some countries, the meeting of members of this power is called Parliament, National Assembly or Congress. The House of Representatives will be composed of representatives of the nation elected as a whole every three years. In total there will be five hundred registered participants. The chamber of senators will be composed of two members for each State and two for the Federal District (sixty-four in total), appointed by direct election and half of them renewed every three years. These chambers will integrate groups of citizens and their primary function will be to represent the people in political work and in the drafting of laws.
