Genesis in the modern world is a highly criticized and often the most misunderstood text; most people don't realize that it is three separate books with two creation stories if we use source division. (J. ROGERSON P63). Often these two texts are interpolated, making our visions distorted. In the simplest form they tell the story of the creation of the world and the earliest history of humanity, then they go on to tell the destruction of the world due to a flood and then the story of Jacob and his ancestors who came to be called Israel. Modern archeology has given us a different perspective of Genesis, as many sciences have proven it wrong, especially creation, John Calvin, a great systematic Protestant thinker, said, “Gen 1 did not reflect physics and astronomy. The account was solely for the benefit of the observant ancient Jews who had no understanding of science." This point has been overlooked (j.rogerson), a century ago our understanding of Genesis was very different and we did not have the knowledge of ancient times as we have now. Wiseman highlights four points that have given rise to critical theories 1) Theories conceived in an age of ignorance regarding previous civilizations. 2) Literary assumptions made when they knew nothing of previous systematic writings. 3) Many scholars believed that oral tradition was the only form of communication in the times of the Patriarchs. 4) Saturated speculative theories regarding "myth and legend" generally now abandoned but not ignored. Scientific discoveries such as Darwin's theory of natural selection of 1859-70 and the geology of 1820 challenged earlier perceptions of creation accounts. A biblical reconstruction of the chronology of Genesis was made, concluding a figure... in the center of the sheet... on the alliance that shapes reality. The second creation story is complementary to the first and concerns the relationships of human beings with God and creation. Psalm 100 All you lands, hail the Lord! Serve the Lord with joy; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God; he created us and we are his people, the sheep of his fold. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name. Because the Lord is good; his love endures forever and his faithfulness through all generations.
