Topic > The Prince: applicable to governments of all times...

The Prince is a manual describing how to obtain political power, written by Niccolò Machiavelli in 1505 with the aim of securing him a political position in the Medici family. (Prince) Machiavelli had been a political leader between 1498 and 1512 as secretary of the municipality of Florence and dealt with internal affairs and war, thus allowing him great political experience. Once the republican government of Florence fell, Machiavelli lost his position and was exiled from the city and then from the entire municipality. Wishing to return to politics, Machiavelli wrote The Prince to bring to light the value and scope of his political experience and how it could be used by the Medici family, the ruling family of the time. (Giacomo 1945-47) Machiavelli uses this worldview of politics along with ideas associated with the Italian Renaissance to compose a highly controversial political manual that focuses more on practical rather than idealistic theories, which were contemporary at the time. Prince is a product of the Italian Renaissance. A revolutionary book for a revolutionary age, it examines the ways in which leaders and politicians, such as Duke Valentino, took actions to support and ultimately secure their leadership in order to improve and adapt current and future political practices. Although initially little noticed and then even hated, the Prince's ideas described a way of governing that was applicable to the politics of his time and is still applicable, to some extent, to the politics of today thanks to Machiavelli's logical analyzes of reality. world events. Ruthless and outspoken, Machiavelli describes politics as it truly is in The Prince, a merciless world...... middle of paper ...... the basic form is applicable to governments of all time periods.
