Topic > The Diary of Frankenstein - 1120

Victor Frankenstein is the creator of a "monster". Due to his thirst for knowledge, he goes too far and creates a huge monster, which he immediately avoids. This rejection plays a major role in the monster's hatred and disgust for humans. When an intelligent life form is born or created, it normally does not experience any feelings of hatred, fear, or prejudice. Feelings like these are instilled throughout life and the experiences one encounters. The monster had an early traumatic experience of seeing his "father", also known as his creator, Doctor Frankenstein, run at the sight of him. «I did not dare return to the apartment where I lived, but I felt compelled to hurry, although wet from the rain falling from a black and disheartening sky» (44). The feeling this most likely caused was resentment towards humans and society. The feeling of being abandoned and viewed with disgust by the person who created you would be terrible. He didn't know what he could do to his creator that would shock and petrify him to the point of horror and disgust at his very existence. However, the monster remained benevolent. After leaving the place of its creation, the monster wandered for a period of time and discovered many things. He discovered fire. He learned that fire creates heat and makes most foods more palatable. The monster also discovered a small village where he obtained shelter and food. Observing his neighbors over a long period of time, the monster notices that they often seem unhappy, although he isn't sure why. He eventually realizes, however, that their desperation stems from the poverty and hardship to which he has contributed by habitually stealing their food. Torn by a guilty conscience, he stops stealing their food... in the middle of a sheet of paper... prevents Victor from returning to the island. In the morning, Victor finds himself stranded near a strange, unrecognized city. As soon as he disembarks, he is arrested and told that he will be tried for a murder found the previous night. Victor denies any knowledge of the murder, but when shown the body, he is shocked to see his friend Henry Clerval, with the sight of the monster's terrible hands on his lifeless neck. Victor falls prey to a feverish illness until he is released from prison. The monster has suffered a tremendous amount of betrayal. He faced rejection from the beginning of his life and was mistreated, abandoned, rejected and shunned by everyone, including the one who created him. His creator even denied him a faithful companion. The creature was a benevolent being, but over the course of its life it transformed into a malevolent spawn of the devil.
