Over the course of the next two scenes the clouds become less gray and gloomy and more sun seems to arrive. This culminates in his final act of inviting everyone to participate in or witness his work. While we cannot know if the sun will ever reappear because the show takes place indoors in the evening. Max makes amends to all the characters in the film and everyone seems to be relatively satisfied in the end. We never know if the sun will come out again, even though the movie doesn't show it. So maybe all the characters are left a little empty, or maybe you can believe that the characters have truly found themselves. The ending is deliberately left open and ambiguous by Wes Anderson. The reason is that he wants the viewer to think if the characters are fulfilled and no longer have an emptiness that cannot be there
