Topic > Homosexuality is Genetic - 1988

One of the most controversial topics in today's society is homosexuality. Is it sin and the genetic virus that we need to prevent or is it just a personal choice and the right to be different. But on the other hand it is also an unnatural genetic error that should be avoided so as not to ruin all of humanity. The other factor that cannot be ignored is religion which states that homosexuality is one of the unpardonable sins ever and prohibits the existence of such transgenics in society, but religion implies that people have the right to judge and punish themselves each other. Why can't society just let them live and love each other, even though their love is somehow different from conventional ones? Conservative society tends to blame homosexual people, although science has proven that homosexuality is inherent in the genetic foundation, but not in personal choice, therefore it cannot be denied, ignored or even discriminated against. The question of homosexuality has been hotly debated since 1960 and the scientific discipline, biology, began to ask the fundamental question about homosexuality. However, a few years ago, the issue was discussed mainly by social scientists. Psychologists, such as Freud, studied homosexuals extensively and found an explanation for their "abnormal" behavior. All the explanations these people created linked homosexuality to the experiences homosexuals have while growing up. Generally, in the world of psychology it was believed that homosexuality could be explained by the environment in which a person lives. However, over the past four or five years, the topic of homosexuality has gradually moved into the world of biology. Studies have recently been conducted that are providing a genetic explanation for sexual preference. The fact that many of the scientists involved in research of this type are gay and Chandler Burr, also a genetics and biology scientist, explains a lot about the issue, that homosexual people are interested and intrigued by their own "abnormal" nature. It can also serve as evidence that homosexuality is not a personal choice and also speaks to the moral competence of people belonging to sexual minorities. The very term “sexual orientation,” which replaced “sexual preference” in the 1980s, affirms the deeply rooted nature of sexual desire and love. It involves biology once again. One of the most influential studies on the genetics of homosexuality was conducted by Dean Hamer and his collaborators at the National Cancer Institute in Washington DC (1993) and clearly shows that there are differences in genetic structure between heterosexuals and males. homosexuals, in particular, carefully examined the DNA of these gay brothers looking for the region of the X chromosome, which most homosexual brothers shared.
