The Army and Air Force have many similarities and differences, some similarities are the dedication, diversity and patriotism of the troops, while some differences are how each branch trains, their respective customs and quality of life. As an Army Soldier, with many friends in the Air Force, it is easy for me to see the many similarities and differences between the two military branches. Both the Army and Air Force have troops who are dedicated to both the work they do for the Army and the military branch they serve. Army and Air Force personnel must wake up early every weekday, including weekends, to work long hours to serve and protect the Nation. Army and Air Force personnel are made up of people of all races, ethnic backgrounds, education levels, ages, sexual orientation and gender. The Army and Air Force are very diverse when it comes to personnel, the personnel of each branch truly reflects America as the melting pot that it is. Patriotism is demonstrated by both Army and Air Force personnel. It manifests itself through the hard work and dedication put forth every day on and off duty, through combat deployments and temporary assignments that separate troops from family, friends and loved ones, through every hardship troops endure to " fight and win." the nation's wars." and “fly, fight and win…in the air, space and cyberspace.” According to Army Field Manual 7-0, the Army trains soldiers to "fight and win the nation's wars." Soldiers receive consistent combat training throughout their military career, in order to be proficient in hand-to-hand combat, unconventional warfare tactics, and the use of weapons to win any war fought. The Air Force trains "to fly, fight,... middle of paper...". Angry soldiers are created when a hostile work environment is created and maintained; an angry soldier becomes a better fighter. A quote from Friedrich Nietzsche states: “For a tree to grow tall it must develop strong roots among the rocks.” As a soldier who became a successful leader in the military, I have strong roots. Now it's time for me to let the sun shine on me, so I too can become bright and strong. I appreciate everything I have learned from the Army and everything the Army has provided me, but now I have to unplug and move on. Works Cited US Army (2008). TRAINING FOR FULL SPECTRUM OPERATIONS.
