Anyone who believes that teenagers should not be punished for engaging in online harassment should definitely think twice. Allowing teenagers to make vulgar posts sending objectionable messages and images to attack other innocent children should be unacceptable. 50% of teenagers have been bullied online in the past because they now spend a huge amount of time on social media. They consider the main interest of children and adolescents besides sleep. Authorities and society should make more efforts to legislate against teenagers involved in cyberbullying. In addition to preventing cyberbullying, parents and schools should reduce children's use of technology as it is considered the common source causing cyberbullying. Authority and Community While many young teenagers have discovered that they have committed cyberbullying, they nevertheless walk away free without any punishment. In the article “Cyberbullies”. Billitteri informs: “For years, progress has been made in Congress and in the states to improve online security” (Billitteri, par.4). Obviously not enough action is being done about it, more people need to be involved in this issue by forcing legislators to allow sanctions on those who perpetrate cyberbullying. Freedom of speech should not even be taken into consideration when talking about cyberbullying, as no one should have the right to remain anonymous to hurt others, regardless of whether it is a child or teenager. Billitteri states: “Experts say that cyberbullying has become a scourge of the adolescent world” (Billitteri, par.4). Many teens believe in revenge: they believe that to get attention they have to hurt others, so they use this strategy of online harassment to feel strong. Accusing a Teenager of a Crime No child should feel that they have the freedom to express what they want and where they feel, regardless of the extent of the impact. For this reason, a strong exhortation must be expressed to those who are looking for solutions. As Billitteri explains, “the sentences allow schools to suppress students' obscene speech and punish those who make credible threats.” (Billitteri, par.4). Evidently a small solution has been initiated, but communities are not strong enough, parents and schools should stay focused and persevere with it until a solid law is reached. Consider cyberbullying as an attack and provide legal punishments for such behavior! It only makes sense as it is a major problem for our kids
