Organizational ChangeStreibichMidAmerica Nazarene UniversityOrganizational Change“Organizational change is often an overwhelming challenge for business leaders. The need for change – or changes – may be the result of changes in the market, the economic environment, technological advances or changing skill demands of the workforce” (Taylor, 2013). Dealing with changes in a company can be a very difficult thing to do if a person does not know how to deal with these changes. The purpose of this article is to provide a description by asking what it is, why it is important and how the author will apply this information among the following: the Burke-Litwin model, the input/output/throughput model, organizational change and resistance to change , at the boundaries of the system, at power and leadership. Burke-Litwin Model What is the concept? factors that influence performance” (Thakur, 2013). The Burke-Litwin model is made up of 12 boxes that are important when it comes to understanding and analysis. The arrows connecting the boxes show how a change in one box will ultimately make changes to all other boxes. In this model there is an upper section and a lower section that are compared to each other. The upper section is also known as the transformation section. The changes in these boxes come directly from the external environment. The bottom half of the template is known as the transactional section. This section contains other daily actions. Any effect on either section will ultimately affect the entire model as… half of the paper… important was leadership and when to use certain qualities at certain times. Many people think change is scary and don't want to do it. The key to change is that “you don't manage change, you implement it” (D. Buchanan, Personal Communication, November 6, 2013).
