Introduction The Internet has changed the way people interact with each other and have fun. It changed the way we do business. It has also changed the way people date, commit crimes, and interview for jobs, it has even changed healthcare, among many other things. Technology and the Internet will not disappear and the need for people to adapt is important. Internet is so important in information management systems. There are Internet-based information systems. These systems are important because they can improve business efficiency. These systems can host data extremely efficiently. Internet-based information systems leave the possibilities for efficiency unlimited. Technology is set to expand further and new ways of communicating digitally will be introduced into businesses. It has already changed the way we interact with each other and between consumers and suppliers. The Internet and Its Evolution The Internet was first introduced in 1969 with a program called ARPA or Advanced Research Projects Agency. ARPA had provided a way to communicate, through a network, with the country in case a military attack destroyed traditional communication. It also connected four U.S. universities and was used for research, education and government organizations. In 1972 Ray Tomlinson introduced email. In 1973, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) became the standard for computer communication on the Internet. In 1982 the word Internet was used for the first time. In 1984, the domain name system (DNS) was introduced, which identified network addresses with .com, .org and .edu. From that moment on everything began to change rapidly. Things like America Online was developed, viruses begin… middle of paper… they developed Google glasses. “Google Glass is a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD). It was developed by Google with the mission of producing a ubiquitous computer for the mass market. Google Glass displays information in a hands-free format similar to that of a smartphone (google.com). These glasses were developed for people who are constantly on the move. Aside from a couple of setbacks, though, wearable computers still need further development. In conclusion, the Internet built our society, but it could also destroy it with a major Internet blackout. The Internet offers great opportunities for technological progress. It has created a new way of personal, social and business interactions. I believe the Internet has been one of the best creations of its time and I can't wait to see what's in store for the future of the Internet and its relationship with mankind.
