I want to discuss the function of music to combine intention and perception. I believe in prehistory, people sing or tap on the hard surface because they want to express their emotions, otherwise they have no reason to sing. Similarly, composers also write songs to express their feelings. However, a piece of music that is not capable of triggering a change of feeling in the audience cannot be considered a musical sound. According to Thomas Schafer: "When people listen to music, they usually try to achieve specific goals. Those related to self-awareness and the regulation of mood and arousal are relatively important to them, while those related to social relationships are less so "(12). From research, Schafer concludes that music that allows people to achieve goals related to self-awareness and regulation of mood and arousal will increase the strength of musical preferences (12). Thus, the function of music is to express emotion and thus influence the audience to make them feel the same as the composers or artists.
