Individualism plays a huge role at the heart of America's foundation. It is what influences many aspects of society, economy and culture. It impacts the character development of America as a whole. Therefore, workers' desire to fulfill themselves and to be able to feel happy or satisfied with their work affects the concept of individualism. As far as capitalism is concerned, it is what motivates individuals, whether those individuals are individualists or not. All types of individuals need some sort of motivation. If a worker does not feel paid or appreciated correctly, motivation for personal growth decreases. That said, a self-determined individual who receives motivation through capitalism such as recognition is someone who is independent. So, he or she embraces individualism in the workplace because he or she is willing to do and embrace the best version of themselves and branch out to grow. We humans get so caught up in the little things that we forget to see the bigger picture of life. That said, workers must strive to embrace individualism. Many people brand themselves to achieve fame and feel fulfilled, however the desire to do better for themselves is what enables the satisfaction. Time spent branding yourself can be better spent on something more productive and helpful to the bigger picture. We need to focus less on what we can't control and more on what we are good at and how we can give back to society and help others for the greater good. We cannot rely on fame and fortune if we want to be self-sufficient. Therefore, we do not need to rely on fame and fortune to boost our self-esteem are individualistic and independent. It is important to want to learn and improve oneself rather than wanting attention to determine the success of individuals. Workers must be self-sufficient in matters that concern only personal growth the only thing they need is recognition. One of the main examples cited by Dan Ariely in his Ted Talk was the success of recognition. It was seen that when he took a piece of paper with random letters and tasked people with finding some pairs of letters on the paper, those whose work was not recognized worked less than those whose work was recognized.
