The idea of taking photographs to show people new places around the world seemed like a dream job to me. I started a list of places I wanted to photograph around the world and hung it on the wall. I never thought I would have the chance to go and photograph them. As time went by, I forgot about the list until an opportunity presented itself. A local art center announced it would hold a photography competition open to the public. So I decided to take a risk and go somewhere I had never been before. Say no to plagiarism. The Grand Canyon was one of the places to visit on my bucket list since I first got my camera and became interested in photography. Just when one of my dream destinations was right in front of me, all I wanted to do was try to remember it as I saw it at that moment. The Grand Canyon is one of the natural wonders of the world. This is due to the many natural changes that have occurred in the past that have caused its beauty. Until six million years ago the Grand Canyon was just a river, but over time the river began to erode the rock and soil beneath. This also happened due to the layers of rocks that formed. This profoundly affected the Grand Canyon. It completely changed the face of what it was and transformed into something completely different. Furthermore, it is the largest in the United States. Driving to my hotel I was amazed by the forest around me. It was similar to West Virginia (the place I've called home for eighteen years) in that it had tons of trees and animals everywhere. There was something magical about the small differences I've noticed on my journey so far. I especially loved the Aspen trees; they were bright white trees that towered over me and had these beautiful yellow leaves on the tops. The little lizards that scurried away as I walked from my car to the hotel lobby scared me at first, but I eventually got used to it. After a long day of travel I decided to get some sleep and start over the next day. I was so ready to capture the most incredible photographs and finally see the Grand Canyon, but first I needed rest. The resort I was staying at had a huge stone patio out back. Stairs to the left led down to a path that outlined the rim of the Grand Canyon. As I walked down the stairs, I saw a perfect spot for a photograph. There were beautiful arched openings under the patio overlooking the Grand Canyon. The arch appears to frame the view perfectly, with the canyon cliffs, trees and sunset in the background. Then I decided to take a little hike along the trail. At one point the path itself caught my attention as it was extremely winding with flowers and trees on both sides. I set up the tripod and took a step back to make sure everything was even and framed the way I wanted. When I find something that interests me, I want to photograph it, so I can learn more about it later. I decided that one morning I wanted to wake up early and catch the sunrise over the Grand Canyon. I jumped out of bed and ran outside to see what was happening. After staying with a group of people for twenty minutes, the hotel manager told everyone that it was a false fire alarm. I went back to my room and happened to glance at my camera bag sitting on the desk. One of the things happened.
