Topic > Elaboration of what I have gained from my volunteering experience

On 3 and 4 August the event “SELANGOR INTERNATIONAL INDIGENOUS ARTS FESTIVAL 2019” is organized by Tourism Malaysia and the Government of Selangor. It focuses on Orang Asli as the main point of the event. Myself and other students are part of the volunteer work for the event itself. In this essay I want to reflect on my experience volunteering during this festival. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? When I and the other students arrived at TAMAN BOTANI, the first thing we had to do was take a group photo to show to our teacher and as a souvenir of the event. After that, we had breakfast prepared by F&B teams and ate before carrying out our task. To prepare things for the next day's event called marathon. I take this opportunity to organize the event because it is the first time I have taken part in the organization of a large event and I believe it is a good opportunity for me and for others. After having breakfast, we were going to a place that brought all of us together to perform a task. SIIAF staff checks our presence to make sure we are all present. We had to wait for the truck to arrive, i.e. bring the things set up. When the truck arrived, the things were taken away from the truck and the task begins. The task is divided into two groups, boys and girls. The kids have to set up heavy things like putting up a tent, carrying the table, etc. For the group of girls the assigned task is easy and fun. The activity that I and the other girls do is that we have to create a 600 bracelet from a tape the one given by them that we had to measure that dress for the bracelet. The bracelet we had to make is for the runner who will be participating in the next day's event. We had to measure one size fits all - wear it or just keep the bracelet if they don't fit the bracelet. It's a little difficult to measure the size that will fit everyone. Let's just make a simple bracelet and tie the ribbon at the end. The women's team is made up of 10 members, we divided our task into pairs. My job is to cut and measure the ribbon to fit the size of the bracelet and my partner Hapipah ties the ribbon. We have divided the task into 5 pairs, that is, each pair will make 120 bracelets until they get 600 bracelets. The learning experience I get from the activities is teamwork. Teamwork is really important when it comes to group tasks. The task will never be accomplished if our teamwork is not good or in poor condition. In teamwork, communication is an important part when we want to manage the team. Good communication will lead to good teamwork and this can be done easily. The task we divide as a group we ask each other before reaching a conclusion. We tried to make the task that can be done quickly and efficiently, that's why we did it in pairs. Mutual teamwork is really important because if we don't focus on what we do or help each other, the work will never get done. By working together, teams can find the solutions that work best. It's supportive. When one team member falls behind, the other will pick up and do it together. When work is divided among members of a team, it gets done faster, empowering the entire company.
