After the men left, the only citizens left were women and children. These women were taught how to do all the jobs that men have done all these years, overnight. Women had to take over the work done by men, and they had to do it better and faster. Men had left obedient, illiterate women who considered themselves inferior to men, but now women had learned that they were actually equal to men. So, now women asserted their rights and there was space for women in society. Now women would take part in intellectual discussions with men. An example of such women would be Mary Curie who trained 150 women in radiology, anatomy, car repair and photographic processing. He designed a portable X-ray machine to take to the battlefield. It was now possible to detect bullets, bullets and small pieces of metal in soldiers before they created an infection and became difficult to treat. Mabel Stobart was another woman who actively took part in the First World War. She trained women to acquire basic military skills and also managed to take her group of women into the Balkan wars against Turkey. Aiteen Cole Stewart also helped and she was an African woman. There were also other groups that now had a place in society and this included African-Americans and those with chocolate brown skin (blacks). Previously, society was racist towards this group and considered themselves superior to them but now, in times of war, they were forced to let these citizens help them and slowly started to accept them and the fact that they are all the same. Aiteen Cole Stewart helped in the war and was an African woman. There was also space created for the colonized peoples of Australia, Africa and the subcontinent (now India, Pakistan and Bangladesh). They took people from these colonies to go fight the war which helped people break away from the idea that they were inferior to those who had colonized them. Now they fought on the same field as these people and when they saw their colonizers die, they realized that they are not gods and are not as perfect as they pretend to be. Another thing to note is that after World War I, Europe let go of some of its colonies because they needed to stabilize their economy. There were also changes in political systems. There has been a change in the country's borders which have been modified or moved. New countries (e.g. Poland) were created after Turkey was divided under the Treaty of Severs. With the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was forced to lose a tenth of its territory. Other treaties were signed with Bulgaria, Austria and Hungary which ended up losing land and wealth. The Ottoman Turkish Empire ended. World War I also contributed to the Russian Revolution as a new active political system was communism. The monarchy was replaced in Russia. The Soviet Union was also formed. Alsace-Lorraine was,.
