There are many governments practiced today throughout the world. Ten governments that have been practiced throughout history and these are democracy, communism, fascism, Confucianism, monarchy, dictatorship, socialism, tribalism, Old Testament and anarchy. All of these governments have both favorable and unfavorable actions that affect a society. Democracy is a government governed by the people who vote for officials. Aristotle was a great teacher who once observed people in a society and came to the conclusion that human beings have a natural tendency to form social units. Aristotle said: “Individuals come together to form families, families to form villages, and villages to form cities. Human beings are by nature social.”. For a group of people living in a society with each other, there has to be a way to agree on some things and this is where democracy was formed. The good things that come out of democracy are that government officials are voted into power by the people, Freedom, and Three separate branches of government that check and balance each other. Government officials are voted into power by the people during election days. This is good for a government because people can decide, trust and who they believe is best suited to handle a political position. Having trust in officials elected by the people helps to work for the people within society. Freedom is a great positive that comes from democracy. Freedom has become the most iconic symbol of democracy. The fact that the United States of America has the Statue of Liberty shows that it offers people the opportunity to become great while having rights that other governments do not always have. A man named Confucius who created this type of government believed that “The ruler sets an example for his subjects. His policies and ideas are dispersed through his ministers and his people begin to emulate his goodness.”.
