The book that struck me the most this semester was “Hollywood vs. America." The reason he seemed to disagree with this book most of the time was because Medved had no valid arguments or sources. The only sources he had within the book were people who basically had the same opinion as him. mentality and worldview. This book struck me mostly because it blew my mind every time I read it. I really thought, based on the first couple of pages, that this was going to be a book that I would like reason why he thought the films were against American popular culture based on his opinion and that of others The book would have been great if it had polls on the population around it; certain films, not what your opinion is on what American culture should think of these films. I thought it would be a pretty good extended response; talk about something that used to make you angry! The way Medved talked about certain films or music genres was extremely rude and biased. In the first few pages I read something that got under my skin. Medved talks about how Michael Jackson came out with his song "Black or White." The song is about racial harmony within the family during a time when it was not entirely culturally acceptable to be married to someone of the opposite race. Medved proceeds to discuss what happens in the music video. This part of his performance is what concerns me the most: "The most problematic transformation comes near the end of this incoherent epic... A lurking panther miraculously transforms into Michael Jackson as we've never seen him before... Michael grasps the repetition.... ..middle of paper......personally absurd, and it doesn't seem to me that Christianity is targeted; Conclusion, I found a quote from Michael Medved with which I completely agreed, he says: “This same habitual blindness to the spiritual and substantive dimensions of any significant challenge continues to hamper Hollywood. I think what he wants to convey here is that the Hollywood industry always misses the mark when it comes to it.” of spirituality and that is the meaning of the whole book.Whether I agree with his words or not, I am a Christian and I should care about the way the media influences the mind of the world around me light in this world, and I think that's the only area where Medved and I agree; somehow, we both believe that the world is under attack and it is our job to show light to this darkened world.
