Social networks in the last two years have become practically viral. There are many publicly available social networking sites including Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Facebook is the second largest social networking site on the web, and Twitter is gaining ground and threatens to become the number one social networking site. Facebook and Twitter are two social networking sites that seem to have many similarities. The main problem of these two social networks is that Twitter has a controlled level of social networking. With Facebook, one-way interaction isn't allowed, meaning that if I feel the urge to want to follow someone's posts, then they have to accept my friend request before I can see what they're posting. Some of the major differences between Facebook and Twitter are that Facebook was launched by Mark Zuckerberg and his college roommates in February 2006. Twitter was founded on March 21, 2006 by Jack Dorsey and was launched on July 5, 2006, with the help of his friends. Facebook is used by members for a variety of purposes. The main reason why Facebook is used is that people who want to stay in touch with friends can do so, and people who want to reconnect with people they used to know can also do so. In addition to having a personal profile, Facebook allows you to post messages on other people's walls, upload photos and videos, share links, write long notes, send private messages to friends, etc. Twitter only allows users to post 140-character messages, or tweets. Twitter allows you to follow other users' posts on their Twitter feed. Twitter is mainly used to communicate with other people with similar interests, regardless of whether you know each other. Users can... middle of paper... except on Twitter, all you have to do to mention another user is put the "@" sign before the user's username. Facebook users are able to comment on other users' statuses or pictures, and on Twitter it is possible to reply to tweets posted by other users. That said, I think Twitter is more superior than Facebook because I feel like more people are engaging with Twitter than Facebook. Sometimes I think Facebook is becoming more of an adult social media site because I hardly see teenagers there anymore unless they add photos. I think Twitter is better suited for us teenagers and college students because you can express your opinion and say whatever you want and no one really cares. I almost never see any adults on Twitter. I learned a lot by writing this article. I never imagined that Twitter and Facebook had so much in common.
