True strength and courage is gained through hardship and experiences....What situation would you rather be in, being raped and trying to find the your rapist only to put him in prison to find out eleven years later that you got the wrong person or be that person wrongly accused to spend eleven years in prison for something you didn't do? Jennifer was raped while in her apartment and tries to find and put that person in prison. Ronald is the person accused of the rape; Jennifer didn't know that she had just put Ronald in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Eleven years was the time Ronald had to spend in prison before finally proving he was innocent. Both Jennifer and Ronald had to have courage and strength to overcome the ordeal they faced. Jennifer's struggle only lasted for a while, she had to overcome the rape, locate the rapist and try to ask Ronald for forgiveness. Ronald on the other hand had to spend eleven years in prison, forgive the person who put him in prison, and survive all the challenges of prison. These reasons explain why Ronald is stronger than Jennifer. Eleven years of struggling in prison and at the same time trying to find ways to prove your innocence is no easy feat. Ronald managed to do so and was still able to move on with his life after the whole incident. A simple point of a finger was enough to turn his life for the worse (39-40). Most people would lose their temper or simply give up on proving their innocence, not Ronald Cotton. Ronald continued to look for ways to prove his innocence; like asking to take a DNA test to prove its virtue. Eleven years in prison is not easy, Ronald had to face a lot of things... middle of paper... I will still have the courage and strength to try to identify the man who raped you, but eleven years in prison and still being able to forgive the person who put you in prison is an even harder torture to suffer. Ronald had managed to spend eleven years in prison, forgive the person who put him in prison, and survive all the challenges of prison. If I were Ronald, I would do my best to get revenge on the person who put me in prison. Forgiving Jennifer and not trying to get any redemption from Jennifer makes him a very strong person. He can't get back those eleven years he lost, but he doesn't want to look at the past and simply face the future and make his life better than he had hoped for. Strength is something that both Ronald and Jennifer definitely had, but Ronald's hardships and trials make him a stronger person than Jennifer.
