Topic > How does stress affect the LGBT community? - 1452

There have been many recent studies focused on stress and how stress affects people on a physical, emotional, and/or psychological level. Although people who are part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community are significantly fewer than the general public; Members of the LGBT community face various issues that cause stress that people in the heterosexual community do not have to deal with. Some of these include stress due to identity exploration and acceptance of one's sexuality, suffering from self-esteem issues, lack of support systems; possible victimization by assault and/or battery; difficulties and limits of dating and finding balance in their lives. Little is known about the levels of happiness and internal harmony related to the lifestyle of bisexual men because there have not been many studies focused exclusively on them and because their number is limited. Therefore, it is critical to conduct a study that measures levels of lifestyle satisfaction in order to compare the differences in these levels between closeted men and openly gay/bisexual men. Conducting this type of research would therefore enhance a better understanding of the effects (if any) stressors, such as the inability to express oneself openly due to one's sexuality, place bisexual men. By targeting bisexual men between the ages of 18 and 70 (independent variable), we can compare them by separating those who are out from those who are openly gay or bisexual. Furthermore, the stress accompanied by being declared or openly gay/bisexual would influence the level of gratification and harmony in their lifestyle (dependent variable). The level of gratification and harmony would be measured on a...... medium of paper ...... men appear more confident, helps them to be more socially competent and leaves them with ease in discussing their sexuality with others. Conclusion I am sure that the “gay movement” has indeed benefited many bisexual men by liberalizing attitudes towards homosexuality, however it is very clear that the world actually needs more bisexual people. This statement stems from the importance for bisexual men to find support systems and a sense of community, pride, and camaraderie just like their homosexual counterparts. There have been many bisexual men in history, for example it is even said that Alexander the Great was actually bisexual, but it is my belief that suppressing one's sexual orientation will affect that person in a negative way and as RuPaul so well stated, "If you don't love you same, how the hell are you going to love someone else??”
