In the last year, the NBA has considered following the example of the English Premier League by obtaining corporate sponsorships. With these sponsorships it is planned to put logos on the shirts. The NBA has three different jersey designs in mind and they all feature the company logo; both in the center, dominating the shirt, on the lower front of the shirt, and on a small shoulder patch on the front of the shirt. The financial gains that these sponsorships can bring to the NBA range from $1 million to $20 million per year. Is this a good or bad idea for the NBA or any other professional sports league? Company logos on shirts have many positive effects. One of them is the revenue you get by simply putting a company's name on your team's jersey. For example, EPL teams Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City all earned $32.6 million in 2011-2012 from their respected sponsors.
