Comparative Anatomy Inquiry Research Question What are the similarities and differences of the respiratory system in three different vertebrate animals (rat, fish and frog) studying the body system and their evolutionary development for adapt to their habitats ?IntroductionThe respiratory system are the organs of the body that support the body to inhale and exhale; furthermore, in the organism, this process is carried out by re-separating. The main purpose of breathing is to supply oxygen to the body and expel carbon dioxide. The main organs of the respiratory system are the lungs; however, other organs such as the nose, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, pharynx, larynx and diaphragm support the functioning of the whole, each organ has its job in the respiratory system. Lungs: The location of the lungs is inside the chest and they are protected by the rib cage, which is covered by a lining called the pleura. The alveoli and each have a network of capillaries and is also considered the place where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide occurs. Nose: The nose contains two paths and the nose has a pair of nostrils. The nose is important to the respiratory system because it has a large percentage of the air we breathe entering through the noseTrachea: The location of the trachea is under the pharynx and larynx; the function of this organ is to transport oxygen from the throat to the lungs. The trachea is enclosed with fifteen to twenty C-shaped rings of cartilage that protect and keep the trachea open. Bronchi: The lower end of the trachea is divided into two bronchial tubes that help carry air to its destination, the lungs. Inside the lung, the bronchi divide in different directions forming the tertiary bronchi. Bronchus...... center of paper...... Diaphragm: not used for breathing, breathing is essential for the larynx because the sounds used by rats to communicate are generated by the passage of air - they can be tight or loose to create squeaks and other common noises- diaphragm- under the lungs and looks like a layer of muscle, the diaphragm helps promote the movement of the lungs while breathing Lungs and ribs- the lungs are the primary organ of the respiratory system- these two sacs which are located on either side of the heart and fill with air during inhalation- each sac contains various branches of bronchioles and microscopic units called alveoli- the alveoli help in cardiac breathing- the walls of the lungs are lined with thin enough from the pleura so that blood and gas pass through and are absorbed properly - the lungs require protection from the rib cage, which is a series of bones that enclose them
