“Most of those who died today were children, beautiful children between the ages of 5 and 10. They had their whole lives ahead of them: birthdays, graduations, weddings, children” (“Barack Obama”). This would immediately upset parents and older children. Who wouldn't be upset that children ages five to ten can't live their lives for whatever reason? However, even if Obama hadn't put pathos into his speech, people would still be saddened that someone so small would never grow up because one man wanted to blow up a school. Obama was not only concerned for his country, but saddened for those who were lost, and the emotions were evident. There were times when he stuttered over words, but this may have been due to the lack of time devoted to speech. This speech was not expected. This caused the speech to be slightly long-winded in some areas. However, there were moments when he was left breathless and if you watched the video of the speech, Obama even burst into tears at one point. This shows that most of the small mistakes made were due to emotional reasons
