For example, we put our culture into practice when we communicate with other people. Therefore, I think these two chapters were assigned together because they explain how our culture defines our identities, whether it be personalities, relationships, or characteristics. Culture and identity play an important role in communication because everyone you come into contact with will share different characteristics. For a moment, every time I work with my classmate Dorcas. A few weeks ago Dorcas and I had to do a group activity in a psychology course involving Howard Gardner's eighth theory of intelligence. At the end of the activity, we had to talk about our strongest and weakest parts. I found that Dorcas had many weaknesses in many areas due to the fact that she was from a smaller country, which did not match up in some areas of intelligence; such as music, kinesthetic and many others. But being American, I am exposed to different criteria of intelligence; such as music “Knowing how to play and teach music”, kinesthetic “being a cheerleader in middle and high school”, etc. From this group activity emerged our characteristic traits, our cultural differences and also our incitement to how we consider each other as a
