Question 2Extreme pacifists follow a strict discipline that does not condone war for any reason and believes in and supports peace. Extreme pacifists live a strict lifestyle adhering to these guidelines which means their followers cannot participate in many functions or organizations that may provoke or support violence. I don't necessarily agree with this view and wouldn't find it realistic enough to apply in our society today. It's an admirable quality that extremist pacifists religiously support and respect, but it seems too idealistic and not easily attainable in our society, at least that's the way I see it. The concept of "just war" was born with Augustine, and in its own way rationalizes and clarifies what according to him outlined a war to be considered just. Augustine was able to delineate and classify just war into jus in bellum, “the conditions necessary to justify engaging in war,” and jus in bello, “the conditions necessary to conduct war justly.” The final phase, jus pos bellum, “…seeks to regulate the end of wars and facilitate the transition from war to peace”. The war after 9/11 is an example of an unjust war. I think going to war was a hasty decision due to the pressure put on the American government, and hundreds of soldiers and non-combatants died as a result. The war that erupted after 9/11 was a war rushed by great emotion and little evidence to justify the act of going to war. One of the main reasons behind actually going to war, aside from the acts that occurred on 9/11, was the belief that weapons of mass destruction existed. The weapons of mass destruction were never found. Going to war with... middle of paper... will allow us to work cohesively towards the same goal. If the idea of justice makes us better people, then I don't see the harm in continuously fighting to achieve this goal. Karl Marx does not agree with capitalism and sees it as a system that disables workers and places them in a category that will almost never obtain the wealth that their owners/employers have. Capitalism oppresses its citizens and makes them believe that a capitalist society is best. Society has been able to benefit greatly from capitalism, but one of the main flaws of capitalism is the dependence that exists between us and capitalism. The disproportion of wealth between rich and poor in America creates and maintains one group of Americans who will have too much money and another group who will struggle to secure some of that wealth but will almost never reach the same level of wealth..
