It was a beautiful sunny day in South Florida. I was six years old and playing in the pool with my new puppy. I loved swimming in the pool almost every day after school. I also loved going out on the boat after school or crossing the street and going to the beach. One evening my father came home with some interesting news. Now, I don't remember exactly what I thought of the news at the time, but I didn't seem to care that much. He had announced that we would return to my home country, Belgium. I had been living in Florida for five years and it was pretty much all I knew, so I didn't know what to expect. At first I was supposed to live with my mother, then my sister would join us after she graduated from high school, and my father would finish fixing things. I remember much of my early childhood watching some old videos of me playing by the pool and dancing in the living room. It seemed like life couldn't get any better. However, I was excited and eager to experience a new lifestyle. I realized that I could start a completely new life, make new friends and learn a new language. Belgium wasn't as sunny as South Florida, but it had much better food and family activities. Geographic mobility can have many positive effects on younger children, such as learning new languages, being more extroverted, and more family-oriented; therefore, parents should not be afraid to move and experience new cultures. I remember moving to a new school and not knowing the language. The students helped me learn French and at first it seemed very difficult. Sometimes, the students didn't always teach me the nicest things to say, like swear words, but everything was fun and new. The teachers were very kind and understanding due to the fact that I......middle of paper......rld. You never know what you're missing until you experience new and different things. Change is always good, because it gives you the opportunity to learn new things and become more educated. Children who move throughout childhood experience new things and adapt better to changes later in their lives. Kids who move to different countries learn different languages and kids who move to different cities learn different accents and discover that everyone is different. They usually learn not to discriminate and to be very outgoing and confident. These are very important characteristics that every adult should have. Children understand the importance of relationships and develop strong communication skills. All these new traits will be adopted by adults, so even if it is difficult for children to move at first, they will adapt and it is very beneficial for them.
