This rally is also an excellent example of one of Dr. King's peaceful protests. All 250,000 marchers went to the Lincoln Memorial, pickets in hand, and watched the "I have a Dream" speech be delivered. This speech speaks to the success of the peaceful protests, especially the one they were currently participating in. In the "I have a Dream" speech King talks about how African Americans were coming to "...cash a check..." at the "...bank of justice...." Which means they were coming to get the freedoms they deserved and refused to believe that the government would not give them those freedoms. No one was arrested during this protest and this protest may be the most famous of the civil rights era. The Nobel Peace Prize is an honor for anyone to receive it. These people would be humble because they have to do something that maintains world peace. Dr. King was one of those lucky and deserving people. Even in his acceptance speech he talked about how peaceful protests should continue. Talking about how all those who have participated and will participate in the protests of the past or future to spread not only justice but also love throughout the world.
